Land and Water Acknowledgement

I live and work on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional gathering place for diverse Indigenous peoples, including the Nehiyaw (Cree), Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Nakota Sioux (Stoney), Dene, and Métis. My family’s roots are in Treaty 1 territory (Steinbach, Manitoba), where settlers like my ancestors were invited to live on stolen land.

I acknowledge this history of displacement and my responsibility to confront its ongoing harms. My commitment to this land includes daily actions—composting, recycling, respecting wildlife laws—and deeper work: educating myself through Indigenous-led resources, supporting Truth and Reconciliation calls to action in my business, and urging others to face Canada’s injustices. I’m still learning how to steward this place with greater care, and I welcome accountability in that process
